You should not use a web proxy server to access HathiTrust. Many libraries require their users to use a proxy server (e.g., EZProxy) or VPN client to access licensed databases from off-campus locations. Using a proxy service like EZProxy will interrupt your connection to HathiTrust and result in slow response times or pages that do not load. VPN clients will not interrupt your connection, but are not required for member access. For the best experience, ensure that you have not connected to HathiTrust via a proxy server. See the "Note on Proxy Servers" section on this page for more information. |

There are two HathiTrust members, the New York Public Library (NYPL) and the Library of Congress (LOC), that do not offer remote logins because they do not have the infrastructure typical to most members in a university setting. You can find a bit more information here: https://www.nypl.org/help/research-services/hathitrust However, you can create a "Friends" account using the instructions above, which will allow you to create personal collections. However, NYPL users will still need to be onsite at one of NYPL's 92 research or branch locations to download complete volumes. |
